We love the Internet more and more every day. We stumbled upon Oyster.com, the first hotel research and shopping website dedicated to publishing the ‘hotel truth’: objective reviews and un-doctored photography taken by anonymous staff members. It’s a great concept: an entire business set up to show people what they’re getting into with their hard-earned [...]
Earlier, flooding also closed down parts of the Dan Ryan Expressway (I-94) and the Kennedy Expressway (I-90/I-94), police said.
In the city, train service on the CTA's Blue, Orange and Pink lines were disrupted.
Blue Line trains are operating between Halsted and O'Hare, but because of flooding, there is no service between Forest Park and Halsted, according to CTA spokeswoman Kim Myles.
The heavy rains — which dumped an estimated 60 billion gallons of water on Chicago and parts of Cook County — filled all 190 miles of the Deep Tunnel system, said Terry O'Brien, president of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago.
The district opened floodgates early Saturday in Wilmette and on the Chicago River to release stormwater into Lake Michigan, O'Brien said, which has prompted a swimming ban at all beaches based on water quality, according to the Chicago Park District Web site.
The most severe case of flooding reported in the suburbs was west suburban Westchester, where much of the village is under water.

Flagstaff’s dewpoints are much above average historic levels. This is driving our intense rainfall amounts. The Flagstaff airport has received 4.165 inches of rain. I have gotten 2.74 inches at my house. 2008, the first July with my station operating, I measured over 4 inches of rain. Bellemont has received 3.13 inches. These variances are typical of the monsoon season. One place gets rain, the next place gets nothing.
But, the dewpoints are quite high. Here is a graph for July.

Leonard Ellerbe, one of Floyd Mayweather Jr.’s closest advisers, denied Monday that negotiations for a super fight between Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao had ever taken place.
That is contrary to what Top Rank’s Bob Arum, Pacquiao’s promoter, has been saying for the past three weeks and he’s sticking by his story.
Arum said on June 30 that he had concluded talks and was waiting for a decision from the Mayweather camp on whether he wanted to fight this year. Then, Arum gave Mayweather until 3 a.m. ET Saturday to accept the terms of an agreement or he would move on and look to make a deal for Pacquiao to fight either Antonio Margarito or have a rematch with Miguel Cotto on Nov. 13.
“
Here are the facts … the truth is no negotiations have ever taken place, nor was there ever a deal agreed upon by Team Mayweather or Floyd Mayweather to fight Manny Pacquiao on Nov. 13. Either Ross Greenburg or Bob Arum is not telling the truth, but history tells us who is lying.

There was even a clock on Top Rank’s website counting down the days, hours, minutes and seconds until the deadline, a deadline Arum said was the window in which he would exclus...

A tornado ripped a family's farmhouse from its foundation in Montana's remote northeastern corner, killing two people and leaving neighbors and authorities to dig through the rubble to rescue a 71-year-old woman who was found next to her grandson's body. Her nephew was found dead 200 feet away.
Robert "Robby" Richardson, 10, and Steven D. Smith, 46, died of blunt-force head and chest injuries at the farm 13 miles west of Reserve on Monday night, Sheridan County Coroner David Fulkerson said.
Barbara Smith, 71, was taken from the basement of her home to a hospital in Plentywood and was later transported to the Billings Clinic, where she was listed in serious condition Tuesday evening, hospital spokeswoman Julie Burton said.
The tornado that touched down west of Reserve about 7:15 p.m. Monday was reportedly two to three miles wide with winds estimated at 150 mph, National Weather Service spokesman Brad Mickelson said.
That wind speed put the tornado's rating at EF3 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale, making it only the fourth tornado in Montana's history powerful enough to achieve that rating, Mickelson said. It's the deadliest tornado to hit the state since 1923, he added.
Medicine Lake resident Brandon French said he and five other men watched the tornado from a hillside.
"It was a damn big one. It was a long way away, but you could see it clear as day," French sa...

Near record temperatures will once again make for a steamy forecast in the Bay area. Highs will reach the mid and upper 90s today. The record din Tampa is 97 set back in 1996. I am forecasting 95 for a high today, the same temperature we peaked out at yesterday. Humidity levels are high as well and will result in heat index values from 104-109 degrees. This heat can be dangerous so be sure to use precautions if you spend a lot of time outdoors. Frequent breaks from the heat and drinking plenty of water are the two main things you can do to avoid heat related health issues.
Rain chances will only be in the 30% range inland to 20% along the coast. The weather remains much the same through Thursday. Friday and into the weekend we will see a slightly better chance for afternoon showers and slightly cooler temperatures will highs in the low 90s. Winds will turn from the NW to the SE over the next 3 days.
Today: Partly cloudy, hot & steamy! Isolated showers this afternoon with a 20% chance near the coast and 30% inland. Winds will blow NW-NE 10 mph with a high of 95. Heat index values will run between 103-109.
Tonight: Clearing skies and warm temperatures. Winds will be light with a low of 80.
Thursday: ANother day of oppressive he...
